Privacy policy

Store Brand counts how its puzzles are used without knowing who you are. No ads, no tracking, no accounts.

What the app sends

The Store Brand app sends us anonymous usage counts so we can see which puzzles people play and whether the app is working. Each count is one event with these fields and nothing else:

  • the kind of event: the app opened, a puzzle started, solved or lost, the daily solved, the unlock screen shown, a purchase or a restore;
  • which game, and the puzzle strength (easy, medium, hard or expert);
  • the calendar day;
  • the platform (iOS, Android or web) and the app version.

An event carries no device identifier, no advertising identifier, no account and no name. We don’t store your IP address with it or anywhere else. Two events from the same phone can’t be linked to each other or to you.

What we don't do

  • No ads, and no ad networks.
  • No tracking across apps or websites.
  • No third-party SDKs: no analytics, crash-reporting or attribution services.
  • No accounts, no email sign-up, no access to your contacts.
  • We never sell or share data. There is nothing about you to sell.

Purchases

The $9 unlock is bought through Apple’s App Store and, when it launches, Google Play. They handle the payment; we never see your card, your name or your Apple or Google account. The app only learns whether the unlock is owned, so it can open every game and restore the unlock on a new phone.

Playing on the web

When you play in your browser at /play, your progress, streak and settings stay in your browser’s localStorage, on your device. We don’t copy them to our server, and clearing your browser data clears them. Web play sends the same anonymous counts as the app.

Share links

When you tap SHARE on a receipt, the app makes a link to that puzzle. The link stores the game, the puzzle number and strength (and the daily number, if it was the daily), and your result: your time, score or how the play ended. Nothing else.

To give you a bonus play when a friend plays your link, we use two random ids. Your phone makes a secret the first time you share and keeps it in its keychain; a friend’s browser makes an id the first time they open a link. We store only a one-way hash of each, so we can count one friend once a week without knowing who either of you is. They aren’t linked to your usage counts, your purchases or anything else. A link stops earning bonus plays 30 days after it was made.

Ranks

When you finish a puzzle in the app, it sends the result to our server for the Ranks: the game, the strength, whether it was today’s puzzle, how it ended (solved, lost, gave up or a score), your time or score, and the day. It is signed with a random number made on your phone, the same one share links use; we store only a one-way hash of it, never the number itself. There are no names and no accounts: on the Ranks you are “YOU” to yourself and a rank number to everyone else. Results are used only to show the Ranks. They are not linked to your identity, not used for tracking or advertising, and not shared with anyone. Old results stay as anonymous rows.

On your phone

Your stats, streaks, flavour and house rules are kept on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.

Children

Store Brand is rated 4+. We collect nothing that identifies anyone, so we collect nothing that identifies a child.
